Ca Spada is a rare gem.
It is a refined and elegant apartment located a few steps from the Arsenale vaporetto stop and just 10 minutes walk from the splendid St Mark Square. On the first floor of a typical Venetian building, the apartment consists of 2 large double bedrooms, both of which, exceptional for Venice, have a private bathroom, one of which has a bathtub.
In each room you will find: double bed, walk-in wardrobe, bedside tables, air conditioning and safe.
A living room with open kitchen, fully equipped, completes the space.
The furnishings are taken care of down to the smallest details: exposed beams, parquet, Fortuny cushions, an iron bow, a precious Murano glass chandelier… they make the environment extremely welcoming.
Another feature much appreciated by our guests is the tranquility of the apartment. Despite being a short distance from the main tourist attractions, Ca’ Spada will amaze you with its calm and silence.

The apartment is easily reachable from the Arsenale vaporetto stop (only 3 minutes on foot, no bridges to cross).
The lively Via Garibaldi is a short distance away, as is the splendid St Mark Square.
Ca Spada is also in the optimal position to visit the Naval Museum, the Biennale or to reach the Lido.

There are numerous toponyms in Venice that recall the ancient art of the “pegoloti”: in Cannaregio near Santa Sofia, in San Marco near San Samuele, in Castello in the San Martino area and in the Arsenale, there are calli and courts of Pegola.
The art of the pegoloti included the producers and sellers of “strope” (red willow twigs), pine resin and its derivative, as well as “pegola” (pitch), obtained by cooking white spirit, used by the caulkers in enormous quantity together with the tar for caulking, i.e. the closing and waterproofing of cracks in the planking of boats and ships.
The latter was an activity that was carried out at the Arsenale, in the small space between the two ancient Tesoni aquatici and the “fravi da Grosso” workshop: in the area overlooking the south-west corner of the Arsenal Novo dock the de la pegola refinery where it was processed was located. The pitch was not only used to complete the caulking of the ships’ hull, but was also used to waterproof the shrouds (ropes or cables, used in sailing boats to support the mast) necessary for the maneuvers to orient the sails, and the ropes for mooring galleys and ships. The positioning of the de la pegola refinery in this area of the Arsenale was ideal due to its proximity to the building called stua (stove) where, inside enormous tanks, the pitch was kept hot and in a liquid state also to be able to immerse the long tops of hemp that arrived from the nearby Tesa longa de la Tana, where all the hawsers necessary for the navy were manufactured. Once the availability of the apartment has been confirmed, a 30% deposit is required to be sent via bank transfer to the coordinates that will be communicated to you.
The balance can be paid upon arrival in cash or by bank transfer.
The rental price does not include the tourist tax which will only be paid in cash upon arrival.
CHECK IN: from 3pm. It is not possible to enter the apartment before this time. If you need to arrive earlier, we will be happy to find a solution for your luggage
CHECK OUT: at 10 am. The apartment must be vacated by 10 am at the latest. Any delays not agreed with the staff will result in penalties.
