Events in Venice

Every year Venice attracts millions of visitors attracted by world-class events.
Here are the main events not to be missed.

Biennale Cinema

Wednesday 2 September – Thursday 12 September 2020

The 77th Venice International Film Festival is organized by the Venice Biennale and directed by Alberto Barbera. The exhibition aims to encourage the knowledge and diffusion of international cinema in all its forms of art, entertainment and industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. The exhibition organizes retrospectives and tributes to important personalities, as a contribution to a better knowledge of the history of cinema.

Regata Storica

Sunday 6 September 2020

The Historical Regatta takes place every year on the first Sunday of September, and is an event very followed by the Venetians. A popular festival that has been repeated for centuries, testifying the importance of traditions and igniting the spirit of competition between the racers who challenge each other in Grand Canal, the most beautiful famous waterway in the world!

Sunday 25 October 2020

Not just a race but a container of events capable of involving and thrilling young and old.

Saturday 21 November 2020

The Festa della Salute is certainly the one with the least “tourist” impact, and that evokes a sincere popular religious sentiment. Also this holiday, like that of the Redeemer, recalls another terrible plague, that of the two years 1630-31, and the consequent vote made by the Doge to obtain the intercession of the Virgin. To date, thousands of citizens parade on November 21 in front of the high altar of the imposing Salute Church to perpetuate the age-old bond of gratitude that binds the city to the Virgin Mary.
